Eva-Maria Cyrus
Environmental scientist (Dipl.), PR manager, moderator

What makes me special

My approach

Important issues from the areas of environmental matters, science, and sustainability do not only deserve to be heard, but also to be understood. That is what I want to achieve in my work.

My qualifications and how I work

I have a German Diplom (Dipl.) degree in environmental science, focussing on environmental communication / education for sustainable development and ecology. In addition, I am a trained PR manager and a certified moderator.

These are the pillars of my way of working:

  • Environmental and scientific topics are complex issues. Thanks to my expert background, I can bridge the gap between necessary factual depth and appealing clarity in the presentation of your contents.
  • You have an educational mandate to carry out, and I am happy to help you with that, bringing a high level of pedagogical skills and the sensitivity required for teaching to the table.
  • When moderating your events, I aim for a pleasant atmosphere, communication, and constructive results.

My passion

Every single piece of your content is an exciting story wanting to be shared in words and images. I was born in the region of the German Fairy Tale Route (Märchenstraße) and, I guess, with a gift for this type of stories. When choosing my profession, I decided to tell true stories, for a sustainable development of our planet, and I ended up in PR. However to reach people, you do not only have to know how to tell a story, you also have to know how to listen. That is why moderation is my second big passion. Well-moderated debates are my tool to get rid of destructive, thorny issues, which often cause projects to fail despite good intentions.

“How and when am I supposed to explain my work to citizens and the press? I don’t benefit from that, and, eventually, they will get everything wrong anyway.” Do you sometimes catch yourself thinking like this? Well, of course! After all, it is your job to investigate issues, not to make them presentable. The good news is: I love taking over all PR-related tasks that keep you from doing your job. Ideal results of this approach are an increased justification of your work, positive attention, and better chances with regards to funding or prizes.

“Eva-Maria always wants to make sure everyone is happy.” At first, I took offense at this statement by a former colleague of mine. But since then, I have come to see it as something positive. Because I realized that projects can be implemented more efficiently if everyone is motivated. I am able to feel peoples’ needs and to positively catalyse them to ensure that cooperation is possible (again). I apply this strength of mine in my everyday work life all the time: Be it to develop an as-authentic-as-possible communication concept for a client or when acting as a moderator.

“You have more ideas per day than a pig can blink per minute”, relatives (I am from the countryside) often tell me with a wink. Indeed, so far, I have never lacked ideas. I am happy to share my many ideas with you – resulting in absolutely individual results for your project!
